Description
„Folk Toy” is a brand new exhibition organized especially on the occasion of International Children’s Day.
Folk toys are usually made of natural and easily-accessible materials (wood, clay, straw, or pieces of clothes) by adult members of family, specialized workshops or children themselves. The exhibition shows toys made by grandparents for their grandchildren, such as: a wooden bike, a horse on wheels and various animals. They are extremely well thought, ingenious and each of them has unique character. Toys of manufacturers from Łączna region constitute a separate category. The oldest carts and wagons are accompanied by toys from the 70s: small merry-go-round, birds flapping their wings and rocking horses. The clay toys were made in every pottery workshop aoart from the main production. They resemble figurines made by children themselves: musical instruments in the shape of birds, clay dolls and small vessels.
Main exhibits are presented in the surrounding of pictures which present the atmosphere of times and places the toys come from.
