The Diocesan Museum in Kielce

Description

The most beautiful and historic sacred-art works from the Diocese of Kielce can be seen in the ex-curia building which now hosts the Diocesan Museum.
Exhibition covers the most valuable examples of the sacred art from the diocese of Kielce made by outstanding artists. Gothic painting – mainly from the previous museum collection – the wings of triptych of app. 1500 by St Jan Jałmużnik, Falling Asleep of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1515-1520), Madonna holding the Infant Jesus from the Cathedral of Kielce (1st quarter of the 15th century) and the Mercy"s Chair from the church in Witów. One can also see the medieval and artistic sculpture: Mary holding the Infant Jesus of 1920 from the church in Niedźwiedź. The most valuable exhibit were founded by the king Kazimierz III the Great: chalice (1362), the herm of Mary Magdalene from Stopnica (1370) and tower monstrances from Wiślica (4th quarter of 15th century).
