Description
The museum was founded in 1963 as a fixed part of PIG"s branch in Świętokrzyskie, first as an archive and since 1992 as a museum open for visitors. The regular exhibition covers over 600 million- year long history of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains: rocks and fossils from all geological epochs, starting from the paleogene eras (cambrian epoch) to caneozoic era (pleistocene). Moreover, one can see the collection of devonian corals, striped flints, dinosaurs" tracks, the whale"s (Pinocetus Polonicus) skeleton from Pińczów as well as mineral and building materials: iron, copper and zinc ores, sulphur, as well as decorative stones, such us “marbles” of Kielce.
