A Geological Paradise

Kielce is considered as a city of outstanding geological qualities with its four geological reserves located in the city’s area. The most famous of them is Kadzielnia reserve established in lieu of the former quarry.

Cholesiowa Jama – Nature Reserve

Together with the Jaworznicka Cave in Jaworznia near Kielce it forms a geological complex that creates Poland"s tenth longest cave (3670 m) with height difference of 61 meters. It is the longest cave in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains.

Kadzielnia Reserve

Geological attractiveness of Kielce is best proved by the presence of four inanimate nature reserves on the city’s territory. Very well-known is the Kadzielnia that contains an inselberg known as the Rock of Geologists located in the central part of the former open-pit quarry.

Karczówka

Karczówka is a picturesque hill located in the western part of the city of Kielce and topped with a beautiful post-Bernardine monastery founded by the Bishop Marcin Szyszkowski and dating back to the 17th century.

Mt Miedzianka – Nature Reserve

The elongated massif of Mt Miedzianka has been placed under protection. It constitutes the north-westernmost located elevation of the Ch ęciny range of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The plateau has three summits that are connected by a picturesque rocky ridge.

Ślichowice

The nature reserve named after Jan Czarnocki was created in 1952 in the area of over 5500 square meters. It is the first Polish geological reserve. It is located in the north-western part of Kielce near Ślichowice district.

The Cave Raj

Nature has for ages created its underground complex of breathtaking tunnels and chambers decorated with hundreds of stalagmites, stalactites, pillars and pisoids of various shapes and forms.

Zelejowa Mountain

The crast phenomena on Zelejowa appear in numerous copybooks as a showcase of their kind. This region gained its fame because of the so called “Różanka Zalejowska” - the calcite of unique pattern.
